Finance and Operations Manager

About You

You’re a passionate business professional with demonstrable experience working in a dual finance and operations role in a small B2B company. You’re committed to hitting the ground running and using your exceptional organisational skills and finance experience to confidently manage the day to day operations of our business to help us achieve our business mission and goals. 

This is a busy, varied role and would suit someone who loves to multi-task and keep things organised!

 

The Role

Initially a maternity cover for 16 months, we’re looking for a full time, remote Finance and Operations Manager to manage the daily running of our small global consultancy business. 

You’ll manage the finance function, including liaising with our vCFO and line management of our business administrator, alongside managing and signposting the business and staff across all areas of operations, including IT, HR, Legal and risk management.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the overall financial management of the Company, including:
    • Preparing timely financial reports, including budgets, revenue and profit forecasts, management reporting (profitability, utilisation etc), and cash flow projections monthly, quarterly and annually for senior leaders
    • Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements and bank reconciliation functions
    • Overseeing monthly bookkeeping (adjustment journals for payroll and GAAP compliance)
    • Providing cash management functions
    • Ensuring all statutory obligations are met in the UK and US (e.g: VAT returns, US Tax returns) with the aid of external accountants
  • Tracking of key performance metrics and operational KPIs, including project GPs and team utilisation rates
  • Manage working relationships with external partners, including vCFO, accountants, Banks, legal, IT and HR
  • Manage Business Administrator to provide business support functions 
  • Oversee transactional HR for the company
  • Oversee commercial proposals to ensure GP targets are set
  • Monitor and update relevant company guidelines, policies and procedures as required
  • Monitor risks (HR, Legal and IT) across the company and report to CSuite and partners to manage and mitigate
  • Signposting to external legal teams to ensure timely contracting and resolving any legal concerns of the company
  • Work with external IT company to ensure effective controls and management of information and technology systems are in place to support business delivery
  • Manage and report on data security and GDPR
  • Provide virtual office management support
  • Ad hoc internal project management responsibilities to help achieve growth for the company

 

Your Essentials Attributes

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable experience
  • Bank reconciliation experience
  • Advanced level Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication, organisational and written skills

  • This is a remote role and you'll be supported to work remotely anywhere within the UK. 
  • This role is full-time (usually 9:30am-5:30pm / 35 hours per week) and offers a full fixed term employment contract.
