ID Comms Ranked #1 UK Best Workplace™ for Women - Why Does it Matter?

ID Comms has won many workplace awards over the years. We put a lot of effort into establishing and nurturing an inclusive, supportive, enjoyable work environment and company culture. So, it would be understandable if we were just taking this last accolade as simply another affirmation of our hard work and commitment.

However, for me personally, as a colleague and as the Chair of the ID Comms Board of Directors, it’s not just another award. It is a validation of the culture and environment we have created. It shows that it is possible to create a place of work where women feel seen and considered equal. It shows that a company that is good for women will provide equal opportunities and fair treatment for all employees, regardless of their gender or ethnicity. It leads to a more inclusive and supportive work environment, where everyone has an equal chance to succeed based on their skills and contributions.

What I am most proud of is that we don’t just champion inclusivity, we also actively seek it. Our board proudly records a 33% female representation, reflecting our dedication to women leading at the highest level. This commitment extends throughout our company, where women hold influential leadership roles across various departments. We firmly believe that this is not only the right thing to do, but that it is simply good business practice. Diversity generates more creativity, more innovation, and ultimately more solutions to all the opportunities and challenges we face as an organisation.

Practically, there are several key factors that have contributed to our success – and they have far-reaching benefits beyond just promoting gender equality. These "ingredients" have the power to positively impact everyone involved:

  • We have implemented wage transparency as a cornerstone of our company’s ethos. We believe in equal pay for equal work and are committed to fostering an environment where compensation is transparent and fair.

  • We believe in and foster diversity. Our active Diversity Task Force embodies our pledge to embrace and celebrate differences. We recognize that diverse perspectives lead to innovation and accelerated growth.

  • We champion flexibility by providing flexible schedules that empower professional opportunities, not diminish them.

  • We nurture wellness through our wellness funds, ensuring that our staff have the resources to invest in their physical and mental health. By valuing self-care, we empower our workforce to thrive both personally and professionally.

  • We empower parenthood. Our paid parental leave is more than a policy – it's a testament to our belief in the importance of family. Our commitment to supporting new mothers and fathers allows them to embrace their roles as parents while knowing their careers are safeguarded.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to every team member who has contributed to making our company an exceptional place to work. I invite you to join in celebrating this monumental achievement and to discover firsthand why we're not just a workplace – we're a community that champions, uplifts, and supports all (including women) every step of the way.

Together, we'll continue to shape a future where equality and excellence go hand in hand.

Barbara Marchelle
Chair of the ID Comms Board of Directors
